Behind the Painting
Flamenco Beach was born from my love and appreciation for Puerto Rican culture. During my years in the Navy, I met many Puerto Ricans whose warmth, culture, dancing, and music left a lasting impression on me.
In this piece, I blended that admiration with my own love of music. The dancers, guitarist, flowing movement, and musical clef celebrate the rhythm, joy, beauty, and connection I experienced. Flamenco Beach honors the people and culture that became a meaningful part of my story.
