Behind the Painting

Voices on Canvas makes my heart skip a beat. I wanted to find a woman dancing—almost like a self-portrait—free in the mountains in her beautiful folklórico dress, shawl, and red shoes.

I included a sarape, perhaps waiting for her whenever she wants to pause and sit. And, of course, the beautiful hummingbird is there as a symbol of miracles, carrying hope and wonder through the scene.
